Maryland Weather: Steamy weekend with chances of evening storms

BALTIMORE -- Triple-digit heat returns for the workweek forecast, with an excessive heat watch in effect Monday. 

Steamy heat will cover Maryland this weekend with isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon through the evening.

Heat index values, those temperature readings that combine the heat and humidity, will be at least 102 degrees Sunday afternoon.

By Monday, the heat index could be 110 degrees, so plan accordingly. 

Try to stay cool. Take lots of breaks if you are outside. Drink plenty of water. Stay in the shade.

Relief arrives Thursday. 

Temperatures will drop back to the 80s across the area.
